These Terms of Service govern the use of Ceylon Web Servers' website, hosting services, domain-related services, VPS services, reseller hosting, and any other services provided by us.

By purchasing, accessing, or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Our Services

Ceylon Web Servers may provide services including:

  • Shared Hosting

  • Reseller Hosting

  • VPS Hosting

  • Domain Registration and Renewal

  • Business Email Services

  • Website Hosting

  • Server Management Services

  • Related web hosting and infrastructure services

The exact features, resource limits, pricing, and specifications depend on the service plan selected by the customer.

2. Customer Account

Customers are responsible for providing accurate and complete information when creating an account or placing an order.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

You must not share account passwords or login details with unauthorised persons.

Any activity performed through your account may be treated as activity authorised by you unless you notify us of unauthorised access.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us as soon as possible.

3. Payments

All services must be paid according to the applicable invoice or service plan.

Payments may be accepted through available payment methods, including bank transfer or other payment methods offered by Ceylon Web Servers.

Customers who make payments by bank transfer may be required to send the payment confirmation or payment slip before the service is activated or renewed.

Services may not be activated until payment has been successfully confirmed.

4. Service Renewal

Hosting, VPS, domain, email, and other recurring services must be renewed before their expiry date.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that renewal payments are made on time.

We may send renewal reminders, but customers remain responsible for keeping track of their service expiry dates.

Failure to renew a service may result in:

  • Suspension

  • Service interruption

  • Account termination

  • Data deletion

  • Domain expiry

  • Loss of access to hosted content

5. Late Payments

If payment is not received by the due date, Ceylon Web Servers may suspend or restrict the affected service.

Suspended services may remain unavailable until all outstanding payments are settled.

We are not responsible for losses caused by service suspension due to unpaid invoices.

6. Refunds

Refund eligibility may depend on the type of service purchased.

Certain services, including domain registrations, domain renewals, third-party licences, dedicated resources, or other non-refundable third-party services, may not be eligible for a refund once processed.

Any approved refund may exclude third-party fees, transaction charges, domain fees, setup fees, or other costs that cannot be recovered by Ceylon Web Servers.

Customers should contact us before purchasing if they require clarification regarding refund eligibility.

7. Acceptable Use

Customers must use our services lawfully and responsibly.

You must not use our services for activities including:

  • Illegal content or activities

  • Phishing

  • Malware distribution

  • Hacking or unauthorised access

  • Fraud

  • Spam

  • Email abuse

  • Copyright infringement

  • Distribution of stolen data

  • Botnets

  • DDoS attacks

  • Cryptocurrency-related abuse that negatively affects server performance

  • Activities intended to damage or disrupt networks, servers, or services

  • Hosting content that violates applicable laws

  • Attempts to bypass security controls or resource restrictions

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate services used for prohibited activity.

8. Spam and Email Abuse

Sending unsolicited bulk email, spam, phishing emails, or abusive email through our servers is prohibited.

Customers must ensure that mailing lists and marketing emails comply with applicable laws and reasonable industry practices.

Accounts causing email blacklisting, excessive complaints, or abuse may be suspended.

9. Resource Usage

Shared Hosting and Reseller Hosting operate in shared server environments.

Customers must not use excessive resources in a way that negatively affects other users or server stability.

Excessive resource usage may include:

  • High CPU usage

  • Excessive memory usage

  • Excessive disk activity

  • Excessive processes

  • Excessive database usage

  • Abusive scripts

  • Continuous background tasks

  • Resource-intensive applications unsuitable for shared hosting

If a website or application requires more resources, we may recommend upgrading to a higher hosting plan or VPS.

10. VPS Hosting

VPS customers may receive greater control over their server environment.

Customers with root or administrator access are responsible for:

  • Server configuration

  • Operating system security

  • Software installation

  • Password security

  • Application security

  • Firewall configuration

  • Updates and patches

  • Data stored on the VPS

  • Activities performed through the VPS

Unless server management is specifically included in the purchased service, customers are responsible for managing their VPS.

Ceylon Web Servers may suspend a VPS that causes network abuse, security threats, spam, attacks, or other prohibited activity.

11. Reseller Hosting

Reseller customers are responsible for managing their own clients.

Ceylon Web Servers does not automatically become responsible for agreements between a reseller and the reseller's customers.

Resellers are responsible for:

  • Managing their customer accounts

  • Providing first-level support to their clients where applicable

  • Ensuring their customers comply with these Terms

  • Preventing abuse

  • Managing their own billing arrangements

  • Protecting their reseller account credentials

Abuse caused by a reseller's customer may result in suspension of the affected account or reseller service.

12. Domain Services

Domain registration is subject to availability and the rules of the relevant domain registry or registrar.

Submitting payment for a domain does not guarantee registration until the registration process has been successfully completed.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate domain registration information.

Domain names may expire if they are not renewed before the applicable deadline.

Expired domains may become subject to:

  • Renewal fees

  • Redemption fees

  • Recovery fees

  • Registry restrictions

  • Deletion

  • Registration by another party

Ceylon Web Servers cannot guarantee recovery of an expired domain.

13. Backups

We may provide backup services depending on the hosting plan or service.

Backups are provided as an additional protection measure and must not be treated as the customer's only backup.

Customers are responsible for keeping their own independent copies of important data.

We do not guarantee that every backup will always be complete, available, or restorable.

Ceylon Web Servers is not responsible for data loss where a customer has failed to maintain an independent backup.

14. Website and Application Security

Customers are responsible for maintaining the security of websites, plugins, themes, scripts, applications, and software installed under their accounts.

Customers should regularly:

  • Update software

  • Update plugins and themes

  • Use secure passwords

  • Remove unused software

  • Monitor suspicious activity

  • Maintain independent backups

If an account is compromised, we may temporarily suspend it to protect the server, network, customer data, and other users.

15. Malware and Compromised Accounts

If malware, malicious scripts, phishing pages, or compromised files are detected, we may:

  • Suspend the affected website

  • Disable affected files

  • Restrict account access

  • Request that the customer remove malicious content

  • Require security updates before restoring service

Customers remain responsible for securing their applications and accounts.

16. Service Availability

We aim to provide reliable hosting services, but no hosting or internet service can be guaranteed to operate without interruption.

Service interruptions may occur due to:

  • Maintenance

  • Hardware failures

  • Software failures

  • Network problems

  • Data centre issues

  • Security incidents

  • DDoS attacks

  • Upstream provider problems

  • Emergency maintenance

  • Events outside our reasonable control

Unless a specific Service Level Agreement has been provided separately, no particular uptime percentage should be considered guaranteed under these Terms.

17. Maintenance

We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance when required.

Maintenance may temporarily affect access to websites, servers, email, control panels, or related services.

Where reasonably possible, customers may be informed of significant scheduled maintenance.

Emergency maintenance may be performed without prior notice when necessary to protect service stability or security.

18. Technical Support

Technical support is provided for issues directly related to services supplied by Ceylon Web Servers.

Support may include assistance with:

  • Hosting account access

  • Server-related issues

  • DNS-related issues

  • Email hosting issues

  • Control panel access

  • Service configuration

  • General hosting-related troubleshooting

Support may not include custom website development, application debugging, third-party software development, plugin repair, coding work, or unrelated technical services unless separately agreed.

19. Third-Party Software

Some services may include or depend on third-party software, licences, control panels, registrars, APIs, or infrastructure providers.

The availability and operation of these services may be affected by the policies and systems of those providers.

Customers may also be required to comply with relevant third-party terms and licences.

20. Suspension of Services

Ceylon Web Servers may suspend services if:

  • Payment is overdue

  • The account is involved in abuse

  • The account creates a security risk

  • The account causes serious server or network problems

  • The customer violates these Terms

  • The customer uses the service for unlawful activity

  • We receive a valid abuse or legal complaint

  • Immediate action is necessary to protect our infrastructure or other customers

Where appropriate, we may allow the customer an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Serious abuse may result in immediate suspension.

21. Termination

We may terminate a service or customer account for serious or repeated violations of these Terms.

Customers may also request cancellation of their services.

Cancellation does not automatically cancel outstanding invoices or charges already incurred.

Customers should download or back up their data before cancelling a service.

Data associated with terminated or cancelled services may be permanently deleted.

22. Data After Cancellation or Expiry

When a hosting account, VPS, reseller account, or other service expires or is terminated, related data may eventually be removed from our servers.

We do not guarantee that expired or terminated data can be recovered.

Customers are responsible for obtaining their own backups before the service expires or is cancelled.

23. Abuse Complaints

If we receive an abuse complaint regarding a customer account, we may investigate the issue.

Customers may be required to respond to abuse complaints and take corrective action within a reasonable period.

Serious abuse may result in immediate suspension or termination.

24. Customer Content

Customers retain responsibility for content uploaded, stored, transmitted, or published through their services.

Ceylon Web Servers does not automatically review all customer content.

Customers must ensure that their content does not violate applicable laws, third-party rights, or these Terms.

25. Intellectual Property

Customers must not use our services to distribute content that unlawfully infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.

We may investigate valid intellectual property complaints and take appropriate action where required.

26. Limitation of Responsibility

Customers use hosting and online services at their own risk.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Ceylon Web Servers is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses resulting from:

  • Website downtime

  • Data loss

  • Lost revenue

  • Lost customers

  • Search engine ranking changes

  • Email delivery problems

  • Security breaches caused by customer software

  • Expired domains

  • Customer configuration errors

  • Third-party service failures

  • Failure to maintain backups

  • Events outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these Terms excludes responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.

27. Indemnification

Customers are responsible for claims, losses, or costs resulting from unlawful or prohibited use of their account or services.

This may include activity performed by persons using the customer's account credentials.

28. Changes to Services

We may update service features, software, infrastructure, control panels, technical configurations, or service packages when reasonably necessary.

Where a significant change materially affects a customer's service, we may provide notice where practical.

29. Pricing Changes

Service prices may change from time to time.

Existing customers may be informed of pricing changes before an affected renewal where reasonably possible.

The price applicable at the time of renewal may differ from the original purchase price.

30. Privacy

Use of our services is also subject to the Ceylon Web Servers Privacy Policy.

Customers should review the Privacy Policy to understand how personal information may be collected, used, stored, and protected.

31. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service to reflect changes to our services, policies, infrastructure, business practices, or legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on our website.

Continued use of our services after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance of the updated Terms.

32. Governing Requirements

Customers are responsible for complying with applicable laws and regulations relating to their use of our services.

Nothing in these Terms prevents Ceylon Web Servers from complying with valid legal requests or regulatory obligations.
